My kids are weird

While I was searching for something in the fridge, Evan exclaimed "Ah!" and triumphantly snatched the bottle of maple syrup. He then wrapped it in a receiving blanket, kissed it, and has been carrying it around the house for the last seven minutes.

We were playing Hide & Seek when I found Ethan under the dining room table. "Do you want to play again, Mom?" he asked. Well, of course, who wouldn't. (Ugg.) "OK, you count and I'll hide wight here," he instructed. Good thing I had a hint like that; it's tough enough to find Evan standing right behind me, giggling.

Was it at least Mrs. Butterworth or something? You know, a bottle that LOOKS like a person? Cause if not, hmmmmmmmm

What is with the syrup bottle??? Dylan loves ours too, but not so much in the carry around like a baby way, more in the drop repeatedly on the floor way. But, he is oddly fascinated by it.

Uh, and the hide-and-seek thing is a favorite over here too. Chase is *almost* as bad. He usually snickers when we start looking for him. But even worse, he jumps out of his hiding spot before Dylan and I ever get the opportunity to discover him. Kinda kills the thrill (for Dylan anyway!) Good times!

Adorable! Wish I could come play with the syrup bottle and play hide-and-seek! I wish I could sleep with Ethan so I could have the pleasure of singing him "the one about..." Do you know how long it has been since one of my kids requested that I sing to them? Eons.

I wish you could, too, Laura! I tend to find those requests more annoying than precious right now.

The syrup bottle looks like a SYRUP BOTTLE, and there has been no previous interest in it. I have no clue. WEIRD. He gets it from his father, of course.

Our little guy loves syrup! One of the earliest temper tantrums he had was right after he figured out where we kept our syrup. It's in a lower cabinet, where he can reach it. It was still when he didnt' say alot in English. He saw the syrup as I was getting things out of the cupboard. We then sat down to eat something like pizza or chicken and he spent a good ten minutes fussing, pointing, and crying while sitting in his booster seat at the table. I finally figured out he thought we needed syrup for our meal. Just this week, he had oatmeal (with syrup, of course) and noticed the bottle was almost empty. He promptly told me that it was empty and I told him we would have to get some more. Later on in the day, maybe 6 hours later, I told him we were going shopping. Guess what he told me? Get syrup at the store. Pretty good for a kiddo who hadn't heard English until 6 months ago. Guess if it's important to you, you get it out!
